The construction companies have requested the Environmental Impact Assessment.
Construction companies have regained confidence and resumed projects that had been suspended or postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic: in the first half of this year, 52 Construction projects have requested their Environmental Impact Assessment, almost twice as many as were admitted in the entire 2020.
The report of the Secretary of Ecology and Environment (SCHEMA) reveals that among these projects are from public works: construction of kindergartens or elementary schools; even residential, subdivisions and stone material extraction installation points, like stone and sascab.
The breakdown of the information indicates that in total they were 14 applications received to build urban settlements in Solidaridad, Benito Juarez, Tulum and Chetumal, of which three are luxury.
further, Eleven large commercial chains also presented their respective projects on Environmental Impact to settle in Quintana Roo.
Last year, only four residential construction applications were received, and one from a supermarket chain. Three shopping centers plan to set up shop in Playa del Carmen and Cancun.
This detonation of work requires materials, and that is why five new extraction points were requested.
The rest are educational establishments, in addition to the construction of sanitary cells for the Solidaridad garbage dump.
The additional data clarifies that so far, none of these analyzed projects has been denied, although it is not clear how many have already been evaluated.
Diego Cortes Arzola, President of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry Quintana Roo, declared that these works will promote the economic reactivation of the State, considering that most private works contract local construction companies.
"The construction industry from the commercialization of rebar and inputs derived from steel, cement plants, hardware stores, paint shops, to the labor plant as bricklayers, engineers and architects, was severely affected this year as a result of the health contingency, so this news that more and more companies are regaining the confidence to invest and build in the State, will undoubtedly help to recover thousands of jobs in 2021 ", pointed out.
