BBVA Mexico estimates growth of 2.7% for the construction sector in 2021

Coupled with this, the lack of an effective contingent plan by the authorities to recover the economy, which began to stop before the start of the pandemic, settles negative results and lengthens a possible recovery ", mentioned BBVA.

The building. in the 2020, with the health crisis, Hit bottom, mainly in its Productive Building component (malls, industrial warehouses and offices), who suffered a fall from 31.7%; followed by Residential Building, with a contraction of 20.7 percent.

"With this result, housing gains space in this subsector at the expense of its productive counterpart. Nevertheless, we estimate that the recovery will be seen first in the second; since the reactivation of the manufacturing industry will demand more industrial spaces. Added to this, we estimate that the economic recovery will come from the foreign market; where international trade will also demand more buildings of this type ", BBVA pointed out.
